Agile Manufacturing offers Direct Metal Printing (DMP) services for producing custom metal parts directly from your CAD data. Metal 3D printing allows you to produce metal parts with challenging geometries that cannot be made using traditional subtractive or casting technologies. Parts can be made in a variety of metals that are fully dense and fully usable. Print anything from prototypes to larger production series of up to 20,000 units.
Also referred to as DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering), this is an ideal technology for aerospace and defense applications. It allows for the production of small and extremely complex shapes with no need for tooling, and it permits dramatically different part design than conventional processes like machining, stamping or die casting will allow.

DMP, or Direct Metal Printing is an additive manufacturing technology. With DMLS a high-precision laser is directed to a powder bed of metal particles in order to selectively build up thin subsequent horizontal metal layers. The laser pinpoints the metal powder particles and fully melts the precise shape and the subsequent layers are properly attached to the previous layer, without glue or binder liquid.
TOLERANCES
Most parts can be accurately produced within .002″ or less per inch on the X/Y/Z axis.
BUILD ENVELOPE
Direct Metal parts can be made up to 11 x 11 x 16″ in size, or multiple parts nested in a single build.
BEST APPLICATIONS
DMP is best suited for functional prototypes, end use parts, and when complex geometries are required.
